ALLISON 1000, 2001-2016 Billet Triple Disc Stage 5 Torque Converter Stock Stall
The Allison 1000 converter is a very robust unit to work with, however it does have a major weak point. This weak point is the stator and its weakness becomes an issue when doing extended brake stalls or burnouts. The factory aluminum cast stator is extremely thin and the casting is very porous. When brake stalling or doing a burnout, converter temperatures can easily exceed 700 degrees. This high temperature causes the aluminum to become soft and eventually the aluminum deforms and simply breaks. When it breaks, it causes the impeller and turbine to contact one another and complete destruction of the converter occurs.
