John Fahey is simply one of the most original and expressive guitarists ever. He created the American Primitive Guitar genre with his first Takoma Records release in 1959. Fahey’s guitar music is actually far from primitive; it is rich and complex, glowing with a deep emotional resonance, timeless and alternative. John was influenced by the rural country blues traditions of the American South. He also added influences from Indian Music and Western 20th century classical composers such as Bartok and Messiaen.
